WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

THE ROLE


The position of Production Assistant reports into the Production Manager and is responsible for overseeing and managing the product critical path on a day-to- day basis. The Production Assistant will track tasks, deliverables and issues through to completion and resolution. This position interfaces with multiple internal functions as well as directly with vendors and off-shore offices, with the clear directive of achieving the highest quality and optimized cost while supporting Design’s product vision and the need to take in product on time for Stores.


WHAT WILL I BE DOING?

 

  • Assist with tracking and receiving sampling fabric, trims and samples prior to the buy so that all the relevant samples are able to be presented at the buy meeting
  • Log and distribute samples to the relevant departments, sending samples back to the warehouse where necessary
  • Process purchase orders promptly and in line with the critical path, under the guidance of the Production Manager
  • Log purchase orders on to the production system
  • Partner with quality assurance to resolve issues as needed
  • Engage with Tech team to track and understand the fit-related issues that impact the critical path
  • Receive and update work-in- progress spreadsheets from the suppliers on a weekly basis and input into the production system accordingly
  • Work with Production Manager and 3rd party suppliers where appropriate, to ensure that the supplier receives all trims required for manufacture in line with the critical path
  • Assist Production Manager to ensure that all orders are collected by the freight forwarder on the agreed
  • shipment dates with the relevant customs documentation. Liaise with the relevant department to arrange delivery dates into the warehouse
  • Liaise closely with Buying & Merchandising to ensure that all orders are placed and that reorders are placed promptly, under the guidance of the Production Manager
  • Liaise with all departments to ensure that the supplier has all the information they require to manufacture & ship the orders, e.g. Vendor Handbook, packaging, packing, payment terms etc.
  • Prepare updates for weekly production meetings
  • General administrative function to keep the department organized and to share information

WHAT SKILLS DO I NEED FOR THE ROLE?

  • Previous proven experience within a production & supply chain is preferable with basic knowledge of product manufacturing and understanding of a critical path (calendar & timeline management)
  • Competent user of Excel/Numbers, Word/Pages, Powerpoint/Keynote & Outlook
  • Able to communicate effectively with good listening skills
  • Proactive and independent thinking ability with demonstrated desire to learn and grow
  • Strong ability to prioritise and adhere to deadlines
  • Ability to work well under pressure
